WATER QUALITY MONITORING

FOLKS volunteers work with Clean Lakes Alliance, Rock River Coalition, Dane County Land and Water Resources, and UW Limnology to build a scientific database of measurements for Lake Kegonsa such as nutrient (phosphorus) analysis, clarity, and other observations.
We now have 14 sites where our members sample and record data at the end of piers. We added sites on Door Creek which flows into Lake Kegonsa, at the Yahara River inlet and outlet, and additional sampling at the deepest part of the lake.

FOLKS monitors water clarity, turbidity, algae blooms, floating plant debris, and phosphorus concentrations. Volunteers to help monitor water clarity, algae, and weeds are welcomed! Contact kegonsafolks@gmail.com for more info.
